Pileated Woodpecker

Today is World Wetlands Day and a nice winter morning for a walk, about -10 degrees Celsius. A cold day for winter bird watching at Technoparc in Ville St.Laurent. There were quite a few fellow birders who showed up for the walk led by Joel Coutu.

There were some Dark-eyed Juncos, American Tree Sparrows, and House Finches. Circling the area was a Red-tailed Hawk. I couldn’t get a good shot.

We spotted the Great Grey Owl taking in some rays. It was very well hidden. We didn’t find the Long-eared owl today.

We spotted a Pileated Woodpecker pecking. A hour later, he was still pecking at the same tree
