My daughter Shannon and I went to Ile Bizard nature park for a nature walk and bird watching and photography. My friend asked about what equipment to use for bird photography. I know that my Sigma 150-600 c is too big and heavy for him. I thought about this and came up with a setup that my daughter tried out on the walk. She used a Nikon d7000 with a 300 f4 and a 1.4 teleconverter.
While I was getting ready she snapped off a couple of shots. Some Brown-headed Cowbirds and a Northern Cardinal.
We met a photographer with Nikon D4 and a Nikon 600mm f4 lens shooting a Brown Creeper. Here are our shots.
Shannon found an Hairy Woodpecker in the shadows at the base of a tree.
I got a shot of an American Goldfinch
We found some Golden-crowned Kinglets. They were very active today.
Black-capped Chickadees were active too.
In the distance we saw a Turkey Vulture.
Shannon spotted some Tree Swallows sitting on a branch.
There were Red-Winged Blackbirds.
There were some Mallards and a lot of Canada Geese at the marsh. They were honking and flying around.
In the distance, there was a pair of Hood Mergansers. Here is a shot of the male.
A Ring-billed Gulled in the parking lot.
That all for today’s walk.
